Frequently Asked Questions

We understand all of the concerns of leaving your prize possessions with someone you might not know or fully trust.  Try asking these questions:

1) Who will be working on my equipment?

2) Is the person working on my instrument qualified?

3) How many years of experience do they have?

4) Is the work done in-house, or is it sent out to another shop to be completed?

Our answers are as follows:

We represent three generations of luthiers.  Jeff and Shelly Reider will personally, expertly, and artistically, perform all repairs and restorations on instruments and bows from the common, frequent repairs to the more extensive restoration and reconstruction.  Jeff has more than 16 years of experience and Shelly, who is Jeff's apprentice, has more than 5 years of experience.  All work is completed artistically in-house one instrument at a time.

Our opinion on regraduating instruments:

We refuse to undo the original maker's craftsmanship and ideals on the instruments they created because we believe it changes the  original maker's intent, starting at the student instrument to the Guarneri and Stradivarius.

We believe this process removes the authenticity of the instrument.
